Customizes default file settings. These settings affect all data files. To save your settings, select the OK button.
This dialog box is displayed when you select the Preferences Command (File Menu).
File Locations
Specify the default folders where Personal Knowbase should locate each listed type of file. Highlight a file type and select the Browse button to select the folder.
File Types:
• | Knowbase Data indicates the default folder for locating Personal Knowbase data files (*.kno). |
• | Import/Export indicates the default folder for locating files to import and for writing exported files. |
• | Attachments indicates the default folder for locating file attachments. This folder is also used for locating files which are targets of active links and hypertext links within articles. |
• | Custom Import Formats indicates the default folder for locating the files which store custom import formats. |
Default File Locations to Portable Drive
This option is only available if you are running Personal Knowbase from a portable installation. For more information on portability, see Portable Installations of Personal Knowbase.
If this box is checked and you have used paths on your portable drive for your File Locations, then the program changes these locations automatically whenever the portable drive letter changes, that is, when you move the removable drive to another computer with different drive letters.
Attachments and Hypertext Links to Files
This setting also affects attachments and hypertext links to files whose file paths are on the removable drive. Whether the file is found when the portable drive is moved depends on whether this setting was set when the link was last saved.
Open File at Startup
Specify whether you want a file to open automatically when Personal Knowbase starts up.
• | If None is selected, no file opens at startup. |
• | If Open the Most Recently File Opened is selected, the last file you had open will open again the next time you start the software. |
• | If Open File is selected, you can select a specific file to always open automatically at startup. Click the Browse button to select a file using the Open File at Startup Dialog Box. |
