Customizes settings which affect exporting files. These settings affect all data files. To save your settings, select the OK button.
This dialog box is displayed when you select the Preferences Command (File Menu).
Line Length for Text Files
Specify the number of characters to put on one line for exported text files.
• | Select Limit Line Length to specify a maximum number of characters to fit on one line. Enter the desired number of characters. A hard new line will be inserted at this point on each line of the exported file. |
• | Select No Line Limit to allow lines to run to any length. A new line will only be started where a new line in included in the article. |
This option applies only when exporting articles to the Text Files file type.
Encoding for HTML Files
Specify the encoding type to be inserted into exported HTML files.
• | Select None to leave out an encoding statement. In this case, special characters are represented by HTML entity symbols within the generated HTML code. |
• | Select Predefined to include an HTML header statement using one of the popular encoding types shown. Select your encoding type from the drop-down menu. |
• | Select Specify Custom to include an HTML header statement using an encoding type not included in the Predefined menu. Enter your encoding type's string into the edit field. |
If a predefined or custom encoding type is specified, a HTML header statement for charset encoding is inserted in the header of each of your exported HTML files. This is a sample statement using the Windows-1252 encoding type:
<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
This option applies only when exporting files to the HTML Files file type.
