This is the final step of the Custom Import Wizard. You have specified that this custom import format indicates each article's fields (content, title, keywords, and so on) by preceding the fields with labels. You need to specify which label each field follows. Your sample file is displayed in the Sample File Preview pane.
Select the Back button to return to the previous step of the wizard. Select the Finish button to complete the wizard and save the custom format. Select Cancel to return to the Manage Custom Formats Dialog Box and lose any changes you have made.
Fields Table
This table has a row for each field represented in your custom file format. Select the Back button to change which fields are included. For each field, specify its label and whether it uses multiple lines.
Label
Enter or paste the label which precedes this field. This must be entered for each field. Labels may not contain commas.
Multiple Lines
Check this box if this field may occupy more than one line following its label. In that case, this field will include everything until another label is found. Otherwise, this field uses only the rest of the line on the same line as its label.
Include Entire Article As Content
Check this box to use all text between the article's start and end delimiters as the content field.
For example, this option can be useful for importing an email message from a text file and storing the whole message, along with all of its headers, as the content, while extracting only the "Subject:" for the Title field and the "Date:" for the Date field.
Left-Justify Content Field
Check this box to remove all spaces or tabs from the left side of the content text. For example, this can be useful for removing indentation from reports formatted for printing.
Labels at Beginning of Lines
Check this box to only find labels which are the first text in the lines. This prevents finding incorrect labels, for example, within the Title or Content text.
Field Data Starts in Character Position
If the labels are always at the beginnings of the lines, you must specify where the field data starts. Labels are only found which start before this character position within a line. Enter the appropriate character position. Wait a moment after typing for a vertical line to appear in the Sample File Preview pane showing the position you have entered.
Sample File Preview
Your selected sample text file is displayed. You may copy text from the sample file into the Label cells. Simply highlight the desired text, and copy it to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl-C. Paste it by placing the cursor in the appropriate cell and pressing Ctrl-V. Press Ctrl-Z to undo.
If you checked the option for Labels at Beginning of Lines, you can use the ruler to set the value for Field Data Starts in Character Position. To set this value, click on the ruler at the corresponding position. A small triangular marker appears on the ruler at your selected position, and a vertical line extends downward from it showing where the data starts.
To modify the character position, click on this triangular marker and drag it to a new position.
Unprintable characters, such as tabs, may appear as small boxes:
