To replace a specified text string in an open data file with another string:
• | Select the Replace command from the Edit menu. |
The Replace dialog box is displayed.
• | Type the text string that you want to replace in the Find What edit box. |
• | Type the string that you want to replace it with in the Replace With edit box. |
• | From the Search Range box, select which articles to search. |
You may search through all the articles in your data file, only the bookmarked articles, only the selected articles, only articles highlighted in the Titles column, or (if an Article Window is the current window) just the current article.
• | From the Search box, select what areas of each article to search. |
You may search through all text in each specified article or just through the content text or the title.
• | If you want to replace ALL occurrences of the Find What string without verifying each replacement, select the Replace All button. |
This operation replaces all occurrences of the Find What string with the Replace With string throughout the range of articles you have specified. Replace All is not undoable.
• | If you want to verify each replacement, select the Find button. |
Personal Knowbase takes you to the first occurrence of the Find What string in the Search Range. You may need to move the Replace dialog box to view the Article Window containing the found string.
• | If you want to replace the highlighted string with the Replace With string, select the Replace button. |
Personal Knowbase replaces the string and finds the next occurrence of the Find What string.
• | If you do NOT want to replace the highlighted string with the Replace With string, select the Find button. |
Personal Knowbase finds the next occurrence of the Find What string.
• | Continue selecting the Find or Replace button to move through each successive occurrence of the Find What String. |
• | Select the Close button to close the Replace dialog box. |
