This error dialog box appears when you click on a link to a file or folder which does not exist. The link may have been an active link, a hypertext link, or an article attachment.
To search your computer for a file with a similar name, click on the Search My Computer button. To leave the link in place as it is, click on the Cancel button.
Search My Computer button
Scans your computer drives A through Z, including fixed and removable drives, for a file or folder with the same name as the broken link. Network drives are not searched.
When it finds a file or folder with a similar name, it asks you if this is the correct file. Click No to reject that file and continue the search. Click Yes to replace the broken link with the found file.
If no matching file is found, or if you reject all matching files, the message "Unable to update link" is displayed. In that case, use the Browse button to locate a new file or click the Close button to return to your Article Window.
If you choose to replace the broken link with the found file, you are given the final options to permanently change the link with the Update Link button or to cancel the operation.
Browse button
Use this button to locate another file on your computer to replace the incorrect file.
First, the Select File or Folder Type Dialog Box is displayed to specify whether this should be a link to a file or folder. Then a dialog box is displayed to locate the file or folder.
Retry button
Checks again for the file in its originally specified location. This option is useful if, for example, the link pointed to a CD or other removable drive, and you need to insert the correct disk for the link to work.
Update Link button
This button is displayed when a matching file or folder has been found using the Search My Computer button. Click this button to permanently replace the old broken link with the new file or folder name.
